The Ksana 35mm f2 lens is very unique. The rendering of the lens is very dynamic on my Leica M10 Mono. The character of the lens is both modern and vintage as well. It's well suited to high resolution sensors and has a very unique rendering that reminds me of large format black and white film when using the M10 Mono. Since the lens is not a homage of a older design lens but a modern creation its performance is stellar on my Leica M11 or M10 Mono. It's very sharp with great dynamic range. The build quality is superb. It's a fantastic lens that should be part of any photographer's collection of primes.
Beautiful rendering, it's so small and lightweight, will be coming out with me regardless of what I'm out shooting, simply because it takes up no space or weight and having an wide option at a moment's notice is invaluable.
Incredibly fun lens that gets all the important things right!
As others have mentioned, the aperture ring’s stops could provide more feedback (ie be ‘ clickier’). It does not affect my enjoyment of this lens, but if I had to choose one thing it would be that.
The 21mm F3.5 Ksana lens is beautifully made. Very solid and well finished. The lens is tiny compared to many lenses made today. The deep knurling and tab on the on the focusing ring make focusing the lens quite easy.
The optics are very good, with corner to corner sharpness when stopped down a bit, decent flare control, and no apparent colour fringing. It works well with my Nikon Z-system camera. The only downside optically is light falloff that persists when the lens is stopped down. But that can be corrected with software.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this lens. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a well made, small super-wide lens.
I love the handling of the KSANA 35/2 on a Leica M body. Just the right size and weight.
But what really makes this lens outstanding is its rendering. Excellent sharpness and absolutely beautiful bokeh!
Beautiful little lens fantastic for black-and-white photos. Build quality perfect, and beautiful in black. The lens feels good in the hand . Overall experience with this lens is superb. My one small concern is flare when then lens is shot straight into sunlight. Other than that it’s a perfect walk around lens. I’ll be trying other Thypoch lenses soon.
I have the Simera in 28 and 35mm, and the Eureka 28mm.
The Ksana 35mm seems as sharp as the Simera but with a better controled flare and without the strong vignetting of the Eureka that was so annoying when shooting SOOC.
The lens is also much shorter than the Simera even with the lens hood.
I initially wanted a black version but as they ran into some trouble and I had been waiting for three months, I got my order updated to the Silver model instead. In my eyes, it's only cosmetic and the mismatch with the black camera is a non issue.
So the lens is everything I hoped for: same excellent rander and craftmanship, shorter profile, better flare control and vignetting much gone when closing the lens.
The Ksana 35mm has rapidly become one of my favourite lenses. The construction, look and image quality make it extremely fun to use. The Epoch coating gives some of my images a little bit of character without being distracting. I particularly appreciate the slight detent on the focusing ring that lets me know when I've hit 0.7 metres.
Very compact. Light and easy to use.
Image is very sharp but with some character. The warm lens glow appears sometimes, but is not very prominent or distracting.
The lens gives me a high sense of quality in both optics and build.
Shipping was fast and superb packaging.
The lens I’ve been looking for. Excellent build quality. Both on my Leica and the A7IV the shooting experience is phenomenal. My only gripe would be that the aperture stops aren’t defined enough, the “clicks” are extremely subtle. But this is more of a ME problem I guess. Definitely get this lens!
I’ve only shot 1 roll so far but zero complaints optically. The performance considering the size is remarkable.
In terms of optimisation for the future. The aperture stops could feel more positive but that’s a personal thing. I think there is probably some improvement you could make so the aperture clicks line up better with the numbered markings on the aperture ring and more evenly space the half stop clicks. I used it with a 12504 hood and sometimes it’s not that obvious what aperture is selected as the hood makes it difficult to see.
All in all a fantastic lens. Thank you. If you made a 28mm f2 Ksana with 46mm filter thread I would be interested in that too.
I repair analogue cameras running a company called PPP Cameras
The lens is great ! i know alot of people are saying the clicks are too light however i find them just right , yes they are light but in use this gives you more control when using half stop apertures and more accuracy when taking meter readings. the click stop for close focus is good too as it does not need to be a hard click stop i found it to be perfect in use
the focusing is not 100 percent smooth i found , but i believe this is due to the type of grease and all brass construction, not an issue at all
the one thing i would note that i noticed straight away is that the lens cap for the lens does not work if i use your 39mm filter on the front of the lens
overall very impressed with the design and in use , it would be interesting to see the design for the clicks in the aperture to see if they can be adjusted for a harder stop just out of curiosity as a repairer. Also looks great on my MP and cant wait for it to brass
The vintage rendering makes me want to shoot every single day. I paired it with either the Leica MEV-1 or the Nikon Zf -- the lens never fail to deliver exceptional quality in both bodies.
I was really looking forward to using this lens. Unfortunately, I found the focus ring to be stiffer than expected. Maybe this will loosen up with use. As for the aperture ring, you really need to pay attention, as the clicks are very subtle. Other than that the build quality is superb. Oh and if you use a filter the lens cap that comes with the lens, which is metal and very nice, will not fit. I had to buy a screw on lens cap from Urth. Hope this helps.

Great optical & mechanical quality ! Love the size & haptics ! And the Thypoch service is awesome ! It's the second time I ordered straight from Thypoch and I'll do it again (:
Thank you !
Tras tres meses de espera, y recibiendo información solo cuando lo reclamaba, hoy ha llegado, sin el filtro que me habían prometido ‘por las inconveniencias’. El objetivo en sí es una maravilla.
Really love the look and size of this lens
My only issue is that the focusing is a bit rough between 1.5m to infinity, like it feels gritty between those distances. Not sure if it was just my copy, would love to return my current copy for a more refined version of this lens because I really do want to love this lens
So far I have only unpacked the lens and hood was not yet able use them in practice. The lens and the hood feel very well made. Very solid. The dials on the lens runs smoothly. As expected there is just a tiny resistance to be felt when crossing the 0.7m distance limit for rangefinder focussing telling you that you have to switch to the viewfinder for shorter distances. I have not yet been able to test whether the sleek-looking lens cap also stays in place when a filter is fixed to the lens. I bought an ultra slim filter and hope that this will work out.
Too early to really comment, I’ve only had it a short time, however my initial photos from using it are extremely encouraging . With my leica m-ev1 I can see the whole picture, something which would require an additional viewfinder for any other M camera. Stunning!!
This 21mm focuses as close as 50cm, and its unique coating gives images a distinctive look that really stays with you. It retains plenty of detail even when shot wide open. I never used to carry a 21mm very often, but this lens is so compact that I now find myself leaving it on my camera most of the time.
