  1. Minimum focusing distance of 0.45m:With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.45m, it outperforms the majority of rangefinder lenses that are limited to 0.7m. This capability opens up new possibilities for close-up and intimate photography.
  2. 14-blade aperture to achieve light transmission of T1.5:With its fast f/1.4 aperture, the Simera 50mm excels in low-light conditions. The high refractive index multi-layer coatings and high refractive index elements delivers an abundant light transmission of up to T1.5, resulting in bright and vibrant images. The cine-standard 14-blade aperture creates a round and pleasing bokeh, presenting a gentle focus falloff that evokes a three-dimensional cinematic visual
  3. Crescent-shaped focus tab for a fluid focusing experience.
  4. Superb optics construction of 6 groups in 8 elements :The Simera 50mm features an 8-element, 6-group optical design, including one aspherical element, one extra-low dispersion (ED) element, and three high-refractive index (HRI) element, leading to sharp and clear images even at wide open and corners. Revolutionary and Stunning Close-up Capability

The Simera 50mm overcomes the common limitation of a 70cm MFD found in many M-mount 50mm lenses by offering an outstanding minimum focusing distance of only 45cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1: 6.4, allowing for full potential in close-up and intimate photography.

Its built-in floating lens elements provide remarkable resolution when focusing at 0.45 m, comparable to that of similar rangefinder lenses that focus at 0.9 m, resulting in consistently sharp images. The focusing ring is thoughtfully designed with a resistance point at 0.7 m, guiding users to switch to EVF for distances below 0.7 m.

Expressive Bokeh Distinct Visual

With its fast f/1.4 aperture, the Simera 50mm excels in low-light conditions. The high refractive index multi-layer coatings and high refractive index elements delivers an abundant light transmission of up to T1.5, resulting in bright and vibrant images.

The cine-standard 14-blade aperture creates a round and pleasing bokeh, presenting a gentle focus falloff that evokes a three-dimensional cinematic visual. The click-and-declick aperture ring allows a smooth transition between photography and video modes for limitless creative expression.

Superior Optics Ultimate Imagery

The Simera 50mm features an 8-element, 6-group optical design, including one aspherical element, one extra-low dispersion (ED) element, and three high-refractive index (HRI) elements. This configuration effectively corrects spherical and chromatic aberrations, delicately rendering skin textures as well as the details of highlights and shadows.

I was attracted by the very unique image style i.e the rendering of the lenses. It's a very unique blend of sharp subject, low CA and pleasing background rendering. I also think Thypoch is the most exciting lens manufacturer in a long while.

I was drawn to the supposed great build and image quality of the lens, As a personal tidbit, I liked the competitive price point compared to other competitor lenses when purchased new, and also the design language of the simera line of lenses. Shipping was a little slow and have been in touch to explain to me exactly why. Everything was just perfect.
